Providence Care volunteers enhance our patient’s quality of life. Here’s what they say:
“Volunteering with the patients at St. Mary’s has changed my life. I graduated this year in Engineering.  Because of my experience volunteering here, I have applied for Med School and have been accepted. I one day hope to return to work at St. Mary's of the Lake.”

“I enjoy talking with my patients, it is so rewarding knowing I can make them smile.”

“I get to hold the hands of those that are dying, hear their stories, I receive advice, I received the meaning of my life back. People wonder why I spend so much time and effort with those who are going to die anyways. My answer ‘We are all going to die, isn’t it good to know that people are there for us, even beyond hope?’”

“I was playing the fiddle for a patient last year, when he suddenly began to sob. I stopped playing but he explained that his grandfather used to play for him when he was ill and he urged me to continue. This experience has actually been one of many which has inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.”

“My husband was a patient here at St Mary’s of the Lake Hospital. I was so impressed with the care he received, I wanted to give back to the hospital to help others.”
